Cat behavior therapy, advice and education

How do I go about it?

After you contact me and we briefly discuss the problem, we make an appointment for a home visit. I then send you a very extensive questionnaire. I would like to get this questionnaire back from you at least two days before the home visit. This is to allow me to prepare properly. If the questionnaire is not returned two days before the home visit, we cancel the appointment and make a new one. In some cases, I will ask you if you can make some short videos of the problem behaviour. Sometimes I will ask if you want to keep a diary. If, after reading the questionnaire, I suspect that there may be a medical cause for the behaviour, I will ask you to have an examination by a vet first. This is always a requirement in case of housesoiling and/or spraying.
After going through your questionnaire and getting a lot of information about the cat(s) and your home situation, I will still have a lot of questions.
These will be addressed during the home visit. This visit takes about an hour and a half. As far as possible, I will get to know you and your cat(s) and ask to see the rest of the house. This is not because I am curious about your furnishings, or to check how clean you keep your home. But to get an impression of your cat's habitat. After all, this is crucial to be able to make an overall picture, in addition to the questions, of everything that could be involved in the behaviour for which you have sought my help.
I will also ask you a lot more questions in response to the questionnaire you filled in. This is all necessary to get the sharpest possible picture of the cat and everything that might be at play. The more detailed my info is on everything, the better tailored therapy advice I will be able to give. And the greater the chance of success. During the home visit, you can of course also ask all kinds of questions, please do so! I will already give a lot of information, too much to remember all of it. But that is not necessary: after the home visit, I will work everything out at home and draw up a diagnosis, cause and therapy plan. This is all sent to you in a comprehensive report after about a week and a half. After three months, the aftercare period ends. But that doesn't mean you can't call or email me after that time, of course.
